The Independence Historical Society was founded to preserve the history and heritage of the great City of Independence.
We’re a small but growing group of Independence residents committed to keeping an accurate record of the city’s historical attributes from which current and future generations can learn. To do so, we strive to establish a relationship between past and present. We plan to meet regularly and to continue special events throughout the calendar year.
Goal One
To keep an accurate record of the city’s historical attributes from which current and future generations can learn.
Goal Two
To grow our board and trustees to be more inclusive and representative of the residents of the city.
Goal Three
To build bridges in our community to help citizens and visitors engage with and explore our collective history.
